The Second Foreclosure Crisis
No Way, B of A
Bank of America, Chase and GMAC Mortgage (aka Ally, aka Ditech) have put tens of thousands of foreclosures on hold and lawmakers are calling for a nationwide moratorium after bank employees admitted they failed to conduct legally required required reviews.
The U.S. Justice Department is looking into charges of irregularities and possible wide spread fraud on the part of banks in foreclosure procedures. State Attorneys General have begun their own investigations. The 3 major lenders have suspended foreclosures in 23 states and a fourth lender has suspended sales of foreclosed homes nationwide. And thousands of legal proceedings across the country are showing that in the case of many mortgages, it’s hard to find out who owns the loan.

In addition to the campaign consultants, lots of businesses use actors portraying real people, stock photos and/or film footage in their ads:
The same young man running in a business suit appears in a spot for Texas real estate auctioneers Hudson & Marshall... The two unrelated commercials have appeared back to back as the suits promotion and a sale of foreclosed Las Vegas area properties have overlapping local television ad buys this week.

Politico reports how with only a month to go before the midterms, candidates in some key statewide races are missing in action on the campaign trail. To illustrate her participation in crafting her own music, Katy picked up a guitar and showed Mason how she wrote one of her first songs ever while talking about her writing process and early influences.

What Happens In Vegas

While Las Vegans are all too aware of their record unemployment, foreclosures and overall economic malaise, they hoped that knowledge of what's happening here would stay here, and that outsiders wouldn't see Las Vegas as a bad bet. Reading your bad press in a journal of record doesn't help image, esteem or revenues.
The Sunday New York Times published columnist Adam Nagourney’s chronicle of a city in crisis, complete with a blow-by-blow look at recent economic events, coupled with commentary from local experts who see no light at the end of the tunnel... Totally at odds with the Las Vegas line and the kind of Chamber of Commerce-approved puff pieces served up by an easily swayed occasional free-lance stringer.
Fact is, Vegas can be a great relative bargain vacation now, if you're flush enough to afford it. But remember, the building boom in the city the mob chose as the place to separate Americans from their life savings wasn't funded because visitors left as winners.
