Big Money Screams

Activist Judges Open Floodgates From Corporate Coffers - Drowning Previously Screwed Pooch

In a world in which the court has previously held money is speech, unrestricted political spending becomes protected under the First Ammendment. If you thought their 5-4 ruling in Bush v Gore was bad, hold onto your hat. A lot of previously decided law is gone.

As a general principle I'm no fan of "corporate personhood," because it's asymetrical... Granting legal rights to a legal fiction, but none of the responsibilities.

If we held corporations to the same standard we held people, maybe I'd feel differently. But there isn't any coporate death penalty, restriction against consorting with known felons or anything they can't buy their way out of by "consent decree."
