But as 27 year old white South African golfer Louis Oosthuizen, was awarded the claret jug that symbolizes winning the more widely viewed 2010 British Open, he stopped to say happy birthday to Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, his country's first black president and author of the reconciliation that made the RSA's multiracial democracy possible.
