William Ackerman
All he did was found Windham Hill Records and jump-start the finger-style guitar renaissance. He doesn't want credit for "new age" music.
To mark 20 years of being on the air, Echoes is running a series paying tribute to icons of the ambient music the show chronicles.

Awesome show - Valley Entertainment started reissuing a bunch of those great Windham Hill CDs last year. There's a couple albums from Ackerman as well as Michael Hedges, Yanni, Liz Story, Alex de Grassi, and quite a few more.

So if I got it right, we shouldn't blame Bill Ackerman for creating new age. Fine... But my torch and pitchfork await those I blame for keeping it alive!
