Both the Chevrolet Volt and Nissan Leaf are on cross-country tours designed to introduce the high-mileage sedan to a curious public amid controversy about whether the Volt's really electric or a hybrid.

Never mind, say consumers... They want one. And as GM announced advanced orders for Volts were strong enough that they were ramping up pre-rollout production, NPR offered this series on cars with (electrical) potential.
