Muscling Up for Mars

A trip to Mars may be out of the question, at least until the problem of astronauts loss of muscle can be solved. Despite rigorous work-outs during six-month stays aboard the International Space Station, the absence of gravity results in a the loss in mass, force and power translated into a decline of more than 40 percent in the capacity for physical work... Which would be catastrophic on a three-year round trip to Mars.
