Blackberry Blackballed

Commerce has no conscience. Business goes wherever there's business to be done... Oppression doesn't create permanent obstacles, only minor adjustments when there's money to be made.

Middle Eastern countries such as Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates are not alone in feeling threatened by what technology that's hard to spy on might do within their rigidly controlled societies... The usual suspects include Iran & China.

Blackberries aren't automatically super secure... That's optional at extra cost. And the makers of, or service providers for, other smart phones like Androids or iPhones are subject to the same kinds of scrutiny as matters of political/economic pressure, treaties or local laws... Staying away from Dubai does little to stop prying eyes.
