Swimming Lessons

It was shocking to hear about two families’ day of fun which quickly turned tragic when six teenagers at the gathering drowned in Shreveport, Louisiana’s Red River on August 2.

Neither the victims, nor any attending family members could swim.

Current data from the USA Swimming Foundation shows that 69 percent of African-American children have no swimming ability, compared to 41.8 percent of their White counterparts.

In the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, one enterprising senior makes sure that younger generations can enjoy the waters safely.
