Weezer Sings Manilow

They got the original full-length State Farm song, written by Barry Manilow, out of mothballs so they could record a cover of it. Manilow was desperate for money when he wrote jingles back in the 1970's. Weezer's rationale remains mysterious. So is why State Farm asked.
